Mini schools, Integration days, Learning hubs, Excursions and Individual student visits provide excellent opportunities for students to meet their teachers face to face, participate in exciting and engaging learning activities, interact with other students and be acknowledged for their efforts.
BWSODE offer comprehensive Mini schools each term with engaging and curriculum based programs. Mini school programs run for 3 to 4 days each term. Students complete activities including curriculum based workshops with their peers as well as enjoying a program of social activities after school hours. Our final Mini school of the year is our Presentation event and includes our annual school awards ceremony.
The diversity of learning experiences for students at BWSODE is expanded through excursions. Excursions to destinations such as Brisbane and Sydney Royal Agriculture Shows, The Snowy Mountains, Sport and Recreation Camps, as well as the surrounding local areas of Dubbo, Lightning Ridge, Coonabarabran to familiarise our students with their local geography, history and culture.
BWSODE is proud of our record in bringing quality, individualised education to students who cannot attend a face to face school. We endeavour to provide every opportunity for the students’ success.
We welcome students to visit their teachers at our school centres in Walgett and Bourke during normal school hours. Please contact the student’s teacher in advance.
We have a very active field service program in which teachers go out and visit students in their homes or at organised hubs. Home visits occurs at least once per year and then on a needs base. Hub meetings occur more regularly depending on circumstances.
